DIRECTOR
Native Hawaiian filmmaker Erin Lau has dedicated her life to creating empathy-forward stories exploring redemption, legacy, and identity. Since graduating from Chapman University's MFA program, Erin has continued her growth through opportunities with the Sundance Institute, Tribeca Studios, MTV, NBC, HALF Initiative, Women in Film, Points North Institute, Powderkeg’s Break The Room, Film Independent’s Project Involve program and Episodic Directors Intensive. Most recently, she was a semi-finalist for the NBCU Launch TV Directors Program | Female Forward. Through her past work with Jubilee Media, she has also directed branded content for global brands including Google, SK-II, and Always.
Erin's short films have screened in over 50 festivals across the world. Her Chapman thesis THE MOON AND THE NIGHT received support from the 2017 Sundance Native Lab, was shortlisted for the Student BAFTA awards, and was featured on the Criterion Channel. Her Film Independent short, ALL I EVER WANTED, won Best Comedy at the 2022 Hollyshorts Film Festival. Her latest film INHERITANCE was also supported by Tribeca Studios, Netflix, and Gold House and premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival. The film won the Oscar-Qualifying Best Hawaiʻi Short Award at the 42nd Hawaiʻi International Film Festival.
Most recently, Erin directed her first episode of network television for the FOX series RESCUE: HI-SURF.
